Panel 1: In
Rose's hospital room, a masked, gloved doctor stands by her bed [note
to future readers: this comic is set right around the time Canada began
to take the COVID-19 pandemic seriously]. The doctor is a relatively
young woman with short black hair and light brown skin. She tilts
Rose's bed so that Rose is sitting up, then puts Rose's glasses on her.
Dr. Lim: Hi there. I'm Dr. Lim. Let's get you sitting up.
Panel 2: Dr. Lim sits down beside Rose's bed.
Dr. Lim:
Now, I know you have glaucoma and a limited field of vision, so I'm
going to stay right here in front of you, okay? I need to ask you a few
questions.
Panel 3:
Dr. Lim: Do you know where you are?
Rose [struggles to speak]: ......In......
Dr. Lim: Okay. Don't worry. Can you tell me your name?
Panel 4:
Rose: Not...with...words...?
Dr. Lim: Luckily, we do have other options.
Alt-Text:
Words are hard. I say that to my students a lot.
