Rose:
Glaucoma makes the pressure build up in your eyes. It's so gradual that
you don't even notice at first when it starts to destroy your
peripheral vision.
Panel 2:
Rose:
I was ten when I began to realise...but I thought I was imagining it,
so I didn't say anything. And then it got worse, and I was scared I
would get in trouble if anyone knew.
Panel 3:
Rose:
And I missed an eye exam when Mom went into labour at the wrong moment,
and she and Dad were in the middle of this messy divorce, and by the
time anyone figured out what was happening, it was too late.
Panel 4:
Jacqueline: So what you're saying is that you're not really blind.
Rose: I will thump you with this thing.
