The first round of the CBC Music Searchlight Competition has ended. As expected, I did not advance. However, two members of the #VoteGeek Initiative, Debs and Errol and Copy Red Leader, did (in separate categories). I've thus put up a new button. Please do keep voting for these guys. Keep the geekery alive.

In other news, people have started asking whether I'm ever going to explain how Rose's family works. Be patient, my children. I do not believe in info-dumps. I do believe in revealing information maddeningly slowly. You'll notice that thus far, only three characters have actually been given names, and one of those characters has not yet had a line. I'm less and less surprised that so many people want to punch me in the face.

One more order of business: the West of Bathurst book has suffered a bit of a setback, as the graphic designer who was going to help with it has bowed out due to his life becoming insanely busy. I'm thus looking for a freelance graphic designer capable of designing an enormous comics collection. Under the good points, I'll be providing the illustrations.

Iz: How come you have a white cane if you're not blind?

Panel 2: Iz follows Rose down the street.

Rose: Your persistence is annoying.

Iz: It's a strategy.

Panel 3:

Rose: Clever. I have strategies too.

Iz: Does one of them involve just answering the question?

Rose: What a boring strategy.
